Backend Engineer (Senior / Staff)

Nango (YC W23) is a leading developer infrastructure company building the unified API layer for AI agents and apps. We are a high-growth, multi-million ARR startup backed by Y Combinator, serving 200+ customers like Replit and Vapi. We are hiring Senior & Staff Backend Engineers to own core systems end-to-end and shape our open-source platform.

Key Responsibilities

• System Design: Design and scale backend systems, APIs, and services for our open-source platform.
• Developer Experience (DX): Build world-class developer interfaces including APIs, SDKs, and UIs that delight developers.
• Performance: Optimize scalability, reliability, and performance across critical backend services.
• Customer Collaboration: Work directly with developer customers to solve complex integration challenges.
• Open Source: Engage with the community, owning and maintaining our public repository.

Requirements

• Experience Levels:
• Senior: 5+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Staff: 10+ years of backend experience with proven ability to scale high-traffic systems.
• Tech Stack: Comfortable with Node.js and modern backend stacks.
• Domain Expertise: Deep experience with Developer Infrastructure, APIs, and databases.
• Mindset: Strong product mindset with empathy for developers; you optimize for DX (Developer Experience).
• Location: Must be based in North America, LATAM, or Europe.

Compensation & Benefits

• Senior Level: $120k – $180k Base + 0.15% – 0.25% Equity.
• Staff Level: $140k – $200k Base + 0.25% – 0.75% Equity.
