Job Description

Branch International is a leading AI-based lending fintech with 50M+ downloads across India and Africa, backed by a16z and Visa. We are building a full Engineering team in India and seeking a Backend Engineer — Data to accelerate our success. You will work closely with Product and Data Science teams to design API backends and maintain complex financial systems that process creative data sources for our algorithmic credit model.

Key Responsibilities

  • Backend Development: Build out APIs and backend systems for frontend clients, including the Android mobile app.
  • Data Architecture: Design, build, and maintain scalable data architectures that integrate disparate data sources.
  • Integrations: Integrate with third-party systems, including payment gateways, identity providers, and messaging platforms.
  • Scaling: Scale backend services to handle ever-growing levels of traffic and complexity.
  • Innovation: Leverage modern AI tools for efficiency and help build new financial products.

Requirements

  • Experience: 3-8 years of strong experience building backend software for web-based or mobile products.
  • Tech Stack: Proficiency in at least one programming language like Python.
  • Data Tools: Hands-on experience with the data toolstack: dbt, Airflow, Snowflake, Metabase, etc..
  • Fundamentals: Strong knowledge of distributed systems, data storage, data modeling, and agile methodologies.
  • Mindset: Pragmatic, entrepreneurial, and excited to work in a distributed/remote team.
